O trabalho, realizado em conjunto com o Professor Doutor João Nuno Quelhas, da Stockholm University, teve várias motivações, nomeadamente: "a characterization on how price adjustments happen helps us better understand the transmission of monetary policy to the real economy [and] how inflation behaves under various economic conditions". Os autores analisaram "the consumer price-setting behaviour in food products [...]; extend the empirical evidence on price adjustments (frequency and magnitude of consumer price changes; comparison over time; comparison over the production value chain; comparison against daily data from online platforms), [and] explore the granularity of the data (by product type, industry and outlet)." A investigação, no que se refere ao comportamento do consumidor na definição dos preços dos produtos alimentares, permitiu concluir que:
- "More than one-quarter of food prices changed every month";
- "Positive price changes are slightly more frequent than negative ones";
- "Price increases have a higher magnitude than price decreases";
- "Heterogeneous price-setting behaviour is found by industry and outlet over time."
Na avaliação que fez da sua participação no ESWC2025, considerou que: "the event provided a unique platform to engage with researchers from around the world and to gain valuable insights into current developments in econometric theory and its applications." A Econometric Society, fundada em 1930 nos EUA, "is the most prestigious learned society in the field of economics, with a world-wide membership; [...] an international society for the advancement of economic theory in its relation to statistics and mathematics". Tem como principal objetivo "to promote studies that aim at a unification of the theoretical-quantitative and empirical-quantitative approach to economic problems and that are penetrated by constructive and rigorous thinking similar to that which has come to dominate in the natural sciences." Desenvolve atividade em quatro cenários:
- "publication of a journal, Econometrica;
- publication of a monograph series in collaboration with the Cambridge University Press;
- organization of scientific meetings in six regions of the world (including a World Congress every five years);
- and the conduct of elections for Fellow of the Econometric Society, an honorary designation highly valued by members of the economics profession". (fonte: Econometric Society)
