INICIATION RESEARCH PROGRAM

Framework

Recipients: Students enrolled in the degree in Psychology and the master's degrees in Clinical Psychology and Educational Psychology at Universidade Lusíada who wish to participate in one of the research projects taking place at the Psychology for Development Research Center (CIPD)..

Objectives: This program aims to create a sustainable platform for the initiation and long-term integration of higher education students, in the field of Psychology, in scientific activities. Each student will be allocated to a research project taking place at the Psychology for Development Research Center (CIPD) and guided by a senior researcher who will be responsible for their integration and respective scientific path. The program will consist of three progressive levels of scientific proficiency that reflect different profiles of research skills: level 1 will include all students in the scientific initiation phase, that is, without significant research skills; at level 2, all students with relevant research skills and who are in the 1st or 2nd year of the master's degrees in Clinical Psychology and Educational Psychology will be integrated, demonstrating autonomy in carrying out scientific tasks; finally, at level 3 all students with a master's degree in Clinical Psychology or Educational Psychology for less than 2 years and who intend to continue involved in scientific activities will be involved, with the aim of developing publication skills and reconciling/integrating scientific knowledge activities in your long-term professional career. The aim is to recognize research experiences and stimulate the articulation between training and research in Psychology throughout their training and professional career.

There are still a lot of people, especially older people, who are lonely and isolated. Seeing this up close made me want to make a difference and help others. Maybe one day, I’ll need this kind of help too.

It was amazing to be able to take part in research as a first-year student. I learned a lot and saw how useful Psychology can be in the real world. This motivated me to keep studying.

Beatriz Teixeira1.st year of the degree in Psychology

This incredible project allowed me to challenge myself (in a friendly environment) and develop important skills for my future, not only as a psychologist but also as a person. Being able to share this experience with my friends and with the teacher made this whole journey more rewarding and fun!

Márcio Silva2.nd year of the degree in Psychology

Being part of this project was amazing. I got to learn, grow, and help people who really needed it. It made me feel more responsible and empathetic, which is super important for my future. Everyone should have this kind of experience, it was better than I could have imagined.

Mariana Freitas2.nd year of the degree in Psychology

Being a researcher in the Researchers4Life program was a great chance to work with really professional people on an interesting and challenging project that helps communities. As a junior researcher, I learned that you need to be persistent, passionate, and proactive to make a real difference. These are skills that every student wants to have.
